News from Supreme: $135 MILLION FOR CHARITY IN 2004 IS ALL-TIME HIGH
Volunteer Service by Knights Also Sets New Record of 63 Million Hours
The Knights of Columbus set new records for charitable giving and volunteer hours in 2004.
The results of the Order's Survey of Fraternal Activity for the year ended Dec. 31, 2004, show that total contributions to charity at all levels climbed to $135,753,039, exceeding the previous year's total by more than $5 million.
The figure includes $26,388,095 donated by the Supreme Council, $11,611,596 given by state councils, and $97,753,348 in charitable donations from local councils, Fourth Degree assemblies and squire circles. The survey also shows that the estimated number of volunteer hours by Knights for charitable causes grew to more than 63 million hours. In addition, members contributed another 9.3 million hours to fraternal service activity. There were 407,746 Knights of Columbus blood donors during the year, and Knights made more than 6 million visits to the sick and bereaved.
Cumulative figures show that over the past decade, the Knights of Columbus has donated $1.174 billion to charity, and provided in excess of 560 million hours of volunteer effort in support of charitable causes. Knights of Columbus in Ontario led the way in charitable giving, with $7,655,212, followed by California ($6,572,879), Quebec ($5,752,883), Illinois ($5,595,344), Florida (5,555,056), Texas ($5,513,976), and Michigan ($5,268,878).
British Columbia Knights gave the most money to charity per capita, averaging $262.40 for each member. Other leaders in per capita giving included Alberta ($168.85), Virginia ($150.20), Ontario ($136.29), and Newfoundland ($132.84).
GRAND KNIGHT'S MESSAGE
I would like to thank all the members that took part in the process that elected me as your Grand Knight for the new fraternal year. I would also like to thank the many Knights and spouses I have had the privilege of working with this past year. Your tireless efforts, can-do attitudes and unselfish giving gave me the confidence and inspiration to carry on the traditions and good works of our Council. I am proud to know you, and work beside you. Phyllis and I have formed friendships that will last a lifetime. I would especially like to thank Innocent d'Almeida for his leadership and foresight guiding this Council during the past year. In addition, he has given me guidance that has helped me to prepare for the challenges ahead in my new role.
I am excited about the future of our Council. We are growing stronger and we are reaching out further into our community than we ever did before. To keep this going we need fresh ideas and new energy: so I challenge all of our members to participate in one activity this year and "Come Grow With Us" ...

'K of C CARE' LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE
The Knights of Columbus believes in helping you keep your promises. That's why we've introduced K of C Care Long Term Care Insurance. Long-term care services can devastate a family's finances and seriously deplete funds you've saved for retirement, or for your heirs.
Fortunately, there is a way to help avoid this from happening. Including the Knights of Columbus Long Term Care program as part of your estate planning package is like bubble wrap for your nest egg.
Please call me to set up a meeting and learn about this great new product from the Knights of Columbus!
Fraternally, Rick Morin, FICF/LUTCF

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME ! ! !
The 2005 Baseball season is upon us and the O's are having a great season….
As you know the concession stands at Camden Yards are manned by charitable organizations thru Aramark Corp. participating organizations share a % of the gross sales from that concession stand for that game. Last year the council brought in over $1900 to help support council activities. We will be manning the concession stand on Labor Day September 5th, Orioles vs. Tampa Bay.
We need 18 people, 17 years old or older, to man a stand for each game. Each game begins at 1:35pm; however concession workers should be present at least 2 - 3 hours before each game. This stand only sells food and beverages to fans that come to the stand, we DO NOT walk the stadium to sell these items
If you are interested in participating or have any questions, please contact Jack Giacalone at 301-774-6338.
COUNCIL POSITIONS AVAILABLE
The following Council positions are still available for this fraternal year, July 1, 2005 thru June 30, 2006. There is plenty of guidance and direction to assist any one willing to help us out. Please consider becoming part of the executive team to help run our council.
If you have any questions about any of the above positions please contact Jack at 301 774 6338 or jgiacal@gmail.com.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS - It's Coming
On Saturday, October 15, 2005, the Father Peter Paul Maher Council No. 6793 of the Knights of Columbus will be hosting its 2nd Annual "Dinner/Dance and Auction Night" at the St. Andrew Kim Parish Hall in Olney, Maryland. For all those who attended last years inaugural event you know what a smashing success the evening was; featuring exquisite catering, a beautifully decorated hall, the lively tunes of everyone's favorite DJ, Robert D'Onofrio, the MC talents of Joseph Feakes and, of course, fantastic auction items ranging from dinners at your favorite area restaurants to Florida vacation getaways and round-trip airfare for two anywhere in the continental United States.
Not only was the "Dinner/Dance and Auction Night" one of the hallmark events of the Council last year, it was also one of the most important and effective fundraising efforts to date. In order to continue our support of the various charitable and community service activities of the Knights of Columbus, we need your continued support and look forward to your participation in this year's event.
Please mark this special event on your calendars and plan on attending with your Brother Knights, their spouses, and community members. Invite your friends and neighbors, as this event is open to all and we hope to have an even larger show of support at this year's event.
Tickets are only $27 per person. Send your check to Patricia Moore, 4500 Prestwood Drive, Olney Maryland 20832 and she will send you your tickets. Checks should be made payable to Fr Peter Paul Maher Council 6793.
Thank you for your support ....
