Grand Knight's Message
Holiday Best Wishes
As we enter into this Holy Holiday season I would like to wish all my Brother Knights and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year. We hope that 2007 will bring a renewed sense of enthusiasm and fraternity, encouraging new and continued support for our Council and its activities for the New Year.
We still have a lot of work to do.... "COME GROW WITH US"
Thank You, Jack Giacalone, your Grand Knight
Chaplain's Message
Advent
December 3, 2006 is the first Sunday of Advent for us all, the Universal Church. How privileged we are to be reminded once again the real meaning of human dignity and life; that is to know God, to become more like God, and to bring others to God.
The Advent season begins with the End, the coming of Christ at the end of time. Soon enough, the Advent liturgies will once again bring us the story of the first coming of Jesus into our history. This season holds the power to touch our hearts, to awaken our memories, and to help us grow in faith.
Scripture uses a variety of images to describe Jesus' Second Coming - a master who settles accounts, a bridegroom coming to meet his bride, and harvest time. Which one would closely apply to our daily lives, Worthy Knights?
God bless us, Fr. L. Tou
District Deputy Message
by Ernest Harley, DD
The many Councils of District #11 have the distinct pleasure to contribute funds each year to persons interested in the Priestly vocation. Our contributions and our participation, creating a bond of love and gratitude, links the Councils of the District and those Seminarians forever across the years.
Through our generosity and the generosity of others, the Catholic Church is well on its way to fulfilling the requirements of Priests so badly needed to carry on the multi-faceted ministry to God's people. The Seminarians, who are free from the worries of finances, can concentrate on being strong spiritually and intellectually.
We as members of the Knights of Columbus gladly give away whatever is necessary to bring about to the peoples of the Nation, and indeed the World, the blessings of the words of Christ. In our prayers for, and in giving support to the Seminarians, we reflect on the choices we make about the needs of humankind.
As we consider the choices of new additions to the growing number of Seminarians given our support, uppermost in our mind is the effectiveness of their relationship to the people. Collaboration with Parishes and the Archdiocese helps build strong ties and knits the two worlds together. As we members of the Knights of Columbus and members of District # 11 give our support let us consider the changing needs of the communities.

Scrooge Didn't Believe
We can all remember the story of Scrooge and his failure to believe in the spirit of Christmas. To all but the Scrooges of the world, the celebration of the birth of Christ brings with it a warm feeling of family ties, a joy and pleasure that out faith brings to others.
That same warm feeling comes from owning life insurance. Just knowing that, because of what you have planned, your loved ones will have joys and comforts for years to come if something should happen to you.
I don't think Scrooge would have believed in life insurance either, but men of good will do. And the world is a better place because of them. Through life insurance, they know that comfort and security will not be only for one day, but instead, a gift that will provide for their loved ones for years to come.
This Christmas, give the gift of security and protection. From my family to you and your family, I wish you a Blessed and Holy Christmas!
Fraternally, Rick Morin, Your K of C Insurance Agent

Pope Appoints Supreme Knight Anderson to Pontifical Council
Carl A. Anderson, Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus, has been appointed by Pope Benedict XVI as a consultor to the Pontifical Council for Social Communications for a five-year term.
The Pontifical Council for Social Communications, under the direction of Archbishop John P. Foley, a Philadelphia native and a Knight of Columbus, is responsible for addressing issues and interests in cinema, radio, television, and the news media as they pertain to the teaching and mission of the Catholic Church.
Mr. Anderson, who has served as Supreme Knight since 2000, also serves as a member of the Pontifical Council for the Laity, a consultor to the Pontifical Council for the Family and to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. He was also the only Catholic layman from North America to serve as an auditor to two recent World Synods of Bishops, in October 2005 and October 2001. In 1998, Pope John Paul II appointed him a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life.
From 1983 to 1998, Mr. Anderson taught as a visiting professor of family law at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. In 1988, he became the founding vice president and first dean of the Washington, D.C., campus of this graduate school of theology, now located at The Catholic University of America.
Mr. Anderson holds degrees in philosophy from Seattle University and in law from the University of Denver. He is a member of the bar of the District of Columbia and is admitted to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court. He and his wife, Dorian, are the parents of five children.
Christmas Caroling At Montgomery General Hospital
Please come and join us in our traditional hour of caroling at Montgomery General Hospital on Wednesday, December 20th. We will meet in the hospital lobby at 6:45 pm and will sing carols throughout the hospital until 8 pm. As always, songbooks will be provided and no singing ability is required. This is a small way for us to brighten the season for those confined to the hospital during the holiday season.
If you have any questions please contact Steve Goldhammer at 301 570 9613. Bring your family and friends for an hour of sharing the joy of the holiday season with others.
