Grand Knight's Message
by SK Paul D. McFarlane, Grand Knight
My Brother Knights and Gentle Ladies – Writing this, I’m reflecting upon proud memories of the eight stalwart gentlemen who filled this post since I joined the Council in 1998. Their faith, dedication, and selfless work have brought us to this time.
Those Grand Knights and Council officers who served before them are equally responsible for the awesome organization that you have entrusted to me. My worthy fellow officers and I will faithfully uphold the principles of our Order. Our helmsmanship will embody and reflect the motto, "As Knights we are constantly observed, our faith judged, and our order appreciated."
We have a great deal to accomplish and we have a dedicated team entrusted to carry out our responsibilities. Please join me in deeds and prayers to ensure that Fr. Peter Paul Maher Council 6793 retains its traditions and builds upon its solid foundation to remain an organization that values and advances the welfare of others.
District Deputy Report
by John Durbin, DD
I wish to offer my most sincere congratulations to the incoming Grand Knights of our new district, District #30. Nancy and I are looking forward to serving the Councils in every way we can. It is an honor to be selected by our State Deputy to act as advisor and guide during the coming year. We need to work together to make our District a close knit group that serves the needs of all concerned. There will be some give and take on the part of everyone to get our First and Second degrees scheduled for the coming year.
The installation dates for our councils will be as follows:

All Grand Knights and their ladies are encouraged to attend all installations if possible.
The State Deputy’s theme for this administration is “WE ARE CALLED TO SERVE” Jesus I Trust In You! We as Knights of Columbus are called without thinking about it. Our Service Programs provide the opportunity to accomplish this task. Become active in Church, Community, Council, Youth and Family activities and we cannot help but SERVE.

God Bless all of you and your families and God Bless AMERICA!
Reflections
by Reverend Father John Nguyen, Council Chaplain
"Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?"
As I reflected upon the gospel reading for the weekend of June 21, 2009, the image of a real life experience involving a violent storm and strong waves, imprinted in my head, came to the surface once again. I could never forget what I saw that evening and the things that popped up in my head that day. When I saw the violent storm come toward our small boat, my conscience told me that I am going to die. I tell you-nothing scares me more than seeing myself drowning in the open sea.
The disciples of Jesus were frightened because they lost their faith. They lost their faith; perhaps because the storm was sudden and strong that they thought it will break the boat and drown them. They lost their faith; perhaps their eyes could only see what was before them and thought about the damage it might bring rather than to trust God. A violent storm comes up with waves breaking over the boat may also be a testing lesson for those who lack faith.
Today, we are more likely raise the same question to God whenever life becomes lonely and filled with unexpected pain and sorrow. We sometimes cry out to God; why does God allow these things happen to us?
A wise person once said, “The greatest cry of anguish the world has ever heard ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’ was answered by the greatest act of love the world will ever know-the resounding silence of the Father.”
The divine love which is beyond our understanding; His true love, will reveal to us when we open our hearts to love and receive others as God loves and receive us.
Fraternal Benefits
There is a legend of 3 horsemen crossing the desert at night. Out of the darkness came a voice commanding them to dismount an fill their pockets with pebbles. After they had obeyed and remounted, the voice declared, “Tomorrow at sun-up you will be both glad and sad.”
When dawn came, they reached into their pockets and discovered not pebbles, but diamonds. Then they were both glad and sad ... glad they had taken as much as they had; sad they had not taken more!!
And so it is with life insurance!
Brothers, if you know you need to review what you have ... don’t wait any longer. I’m here for your benefit. Call me now and I’ll bring you something more than life insurance ... I can bring you and your family peace of mind.
